It's only natural that my fruit obsession should extend itself stylistically, especially when I spied <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=761928&b=417942&m=43745&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Emodcloth%2Ecom%2Fshop%2Fbeauty%2Fand%2Dmani%2Dmore%2Dnail%2Dsticker%2Dset%2Din%2Dfruit" target="_blank">these cute nail stickers</a> at Modcloth. Applying them is pretty easy and there are instructions on the box: <i>stick the nail on, file off the excess, and throw a couple of coats of clear polish on top to keep it all in place</i>. I've only used one set of nail stickers before, but these are a bit thinner than my first pair so I'm a little worried about their durability. Still, for the cute factor I don't regret getting them and I'll probably just keep adding clear polish whenever they look like they're ready to peel. The set comes with 16 different stickers, so you have some options about what to apply and some leftover styles for another manicure another day.</div></div>

Catch A Falling Star

Now that I finally have hair long enough to force into a ponytail the added ribbon has become one of my favorite styles--in summer heat it's even sensible to boot. Also, this dress is for sale in <a href="http://theclotheshorsecloset.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">my closet shop</a>; I couldn't resist wearing it one last time before someone buys it (if no one buys it I'll actually be pretty happy to keep my hands on it!). If you're interested in buying anything you should check it out now because I'll be closing <a href="http://toujourstoi.com/" target="_blank">the shop</a> later this week. Anyway, it was fun giving this dress one last outing; my little jeweled heels were a perfect match and how fun is this little star purse? It doesn't hold much, but sometimes that is a good thing. You know, carry only what you need, focus on a simple to-do list, get rid of things that are only taking up space in your life/house. Which probably calls back to a number of books I read as a child (like <i>Summer of the Swans </i>or <i>Summer of the Monkeys</i>). But it is a season where you seem to latch on to something and then allow it to take over your life. Every summer when I start to think of vintage day dresses and ballet flats, it is Bardot who comes to mind. <i>Les Mepris</i> is a huge style inspiration for me and even off set the beauty had a lot of influence in the 50s and 60s. She is often credited for skyrocketing the bikini's popularity when she donned one at Cannes in 1953. Similarly she changed the appeal of gingham when she got married in that wholesome print--within years it was on every film star from Doris Day to Judy Garland. If you dig more into her street style pictures you find chic capris pants, wide brimmed hats, and ballet flats are also signatures of hers from this period in time. Her style took a different direction in the 70s, but it is this era I'm most inspired by; especially timely since I feel this style epitomizes summer.</div>

Down By The Schoolyard

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><img border="0" src="http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/theclotheshorse/1u/playground-7_zps4e27c4bf.jpg" /><br />It takes an awful lot of bobby pins and hairspray to maintain this hairstyle right now, but it was my favorite way to wear my hair when it was long and I'm quite excited to *almost* pull it off now. I always liked this style because I like the look of braids, but it's incredibly functional; it keeps your neck cool in summer and all your hair out of your face on windy days.
