Many a day it is that I regret retiring my pointe shoes at thirteen, but never so much as when I see a lovely collection of ballet dancers posing in front of timeless Degas paintings. This series by Walter Sanders of Paris Opera Ballet students in 1949 is truly stunning. Of course I never had the body type or discipline to be a ballerina, but when you admire a series of photographs like this your imagination leads you to believe that you were meant for tutus and chignons...
