Every time I saw one on the street I whipped out my camera and stopped whatever else I was doing to try to get that iconic vehicle. My travel companions were unreasonably patient with me and eventually I got <i><a href="http://theclothes.blogspot.com/2014/08/postcards-from-london.html" target="_blank">the shot</a></i>. So, I understood Thomas when he expressed a desire for a picture with a classic yellow school bus. Luckily my friends knew where a bunch of school buses got parked when they weren't running and dropped by there over the weekend for a few pictures. Thomas got all the school bus pictures he could desire and I had the perfect backdrop for my <a href="http://helloholiday.com/collections/allclothing/products/2-old-4-school-sweater" target="_blank">"2 old 4 school" sweater</a>. Men Amaze to Win the Palm, the Oak, the Bays

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><img border="0" src="http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/theclotheshorse/1u/pinks-10_zps6860cb67.jpg" /><br />Most of the time my clothes receive approval from my friends and family, while occasionally they remark, "I wouldn't wear that, but it's cool enough." Sometimes however an item gets more head scratches than bemused acceptance. This dress falls into the latter category. People thought it was a bit too ruffly and wondered if the pink trim matched the blue and white print. But ahem, see how perfectly the dress matches my accessories? If it wasn't meant to be why would I already have the perfect shoes and purse to wear with it, hm? My favorite detail about the dress however is the way it moves. Asleep With Compasses In Our Hands

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><img border="0" src="http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/theclotheshorse/1u/newness-6_zpsaa84d23c.jpg" /><br />I keep forgetting that it's not officially summer yet when we have so many days that feel like summer. It's not just the temperatures--I see evidence in the fields turning golden and the children drawing with chalk on the sidewalks when they would usually be in school. There's evidence of a more energetic and free season when I visit lakes like this one, so quiet in winter filling with canoes and people swimming. Since summer is perhaps my favorite season I have few complaints. This dress is (as a friend told me when I put it on) a perfect summer dress; ideally I would wear the nautical themed piece by the ocean, but as I'm a bit land-locked the lakes and rivers in my area will have to suffice. Cloud Pearls

For me there's never one consistent point of inspiration; sometimes it's an image I saw in an editorial or look I walked down the runway, or some pretty scene I saw while walking or driving on my way somewhere else, or even just being the nearest dress to my bed when I wake up in the morning. Since summer styles tend to be incredibly minimal (to the point of boredom!) with a mere dress and shoes combination I tend to focus on jewelry more as a building block. I recently received a couple of pieces from <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/CloudPearls" target="_blank">Cloud Pearls</a> and her handmade, color-blocked necklaces are keeping me inspired right now. With this pretty red, pale pink, and mint one I decided on a navy palette to make it pop and then coordinated with nautical cardigan. Rathlin Island

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><img border="0" src="http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/theclotheshorse/1v/1v001/_MG_6824_zpsaa3705be.jpg" /><br />On my last visit to Northern Ireland Thomas's work meant most of our explorations were limited to places near his home we could visit in the evenings, but this time things conspired to give our schedules more flexibility. Between Easter holidays and the end of a few projects Thomas has been able to take me to some of his favorite spots a bit further away--such as Rathlin Island. A brief ferry ride through the "Sea of Moyle" and you arrive to a small island with an old-world feel seeped in history and legend. We hiked out to the East lighthouse to a couple of old ruins at the edge of the Atlantic with seals basking in the sun on the nearby rocks.
