At first this looks like a series of absurd photographs--you aren't certain about the connection but you know that something is off and it turns out it's the laws that are off. Photographer Olivia Locher captures some of America's bizarre state laws and unfortunately, we have a lot of them. Pictured here: in Alabama it is illegal to have an ice cream cone in your back pocket at all times, in Rhode Island it is illegal to wear transparent clothing, in Utah no one may walk down the street carrying a paper bag containing a violin, in Maine it’s unlawful to tickle women under the chin with a feather duster, in California nobody is allowed to ride a bicycle in a swimming pool, and in Ohio it’s illegal to disrobe in front of a man’s portrait. This doesn't even scratch the surface of our outdated laws--like how you can't throw shoes at a wedding in Colorado, in one city in Georgia it is illegal to say "Oh, boy." They're weird and random and Locher manages to capture them with humor and creativity.
