Assembly is a series of photographs by Osamu Yokonami featuring young girls dressed identically in uniforms in different landscapes (the uniforms in the foremost picture are hauntingly similar to my own uniform from high school). I'm fascinated by the contrast between shots where the girls are clustered and then dispersed at random. It's interesting how the figures become anonymous and almost their own landscape within the frame. Yokonami was attracted to the expressiveness of the group and echoed Japanese watercolor paintings with his color palette. The series is available as a photobook self-published by the artist which I'm quite tempted to get myself...
