Some days I merely want to wear a pretty dress or even just throw on a pair of jeans and a sweater and call it a day, but other days changing clothes makes you feel like you could assume a new identity. Since I moved around a lot as a kid I'd often spend some time on the road between homes thinking of how things would be different in my new house, state, school, etc. Wondering about how I could be different. What aspects of myself I'd intentionally change or personality traits I'd adapt. Everything usually ended up being merely theory because inevitably I'd go back to being my shy self at a new school. Change happens of course, but for me it was always more gradual shifts and changing my location only had minimal affects on my personality or self...All of that is quite of a ramble from my original point--assuming a new identity with a new outfit. It's easier to dress the part for a day than some more permanent personality shift. It's not that I feel like a sailor in a nautical dress, but when I pair it with a boater hat and handy rucksack I feel as if I'm almost wearing a costume and I quite like that.
