Michael Always Comes Home at Halloween

Halloween has never been my favorite holiday and if I never saw another scary movie I'd be fine, however as I've mentioned before Thomas has a lot of enthusiasm for this season and creepy movies and his enthusiasm is catching. So in honor of this spooky time we decided to create a little photoshoot inspired by the classic horror: <i>Halloween</i>. We visited the abandoned theme park I've <a href="http://theclothes.blogspot.com/2013/08/abandoned-by-reason.html" target="_blank">taken</a> <a href="http://theclothes.blogspot.com/2013/06/scenes-from-abandoned-theme-park.html" target="_blank">pictures</a> <a href="http://theclothes.blogspot.com/2012/05/beneath-stains-of-time.html" target="_blank">at a few times</a> before, found Thomas the perfect creepy costume, and enlisted my friend <a href="http://thedustdancestoo.com/" target="_blank">Jon</a> to snap the mayhem. Strangely enough we were not the only ones doing a horror-themed photoshoot at the abandoned theme park on this day--there was also a creepy clown wandering around with photographer in tow! All in all it was a pretty fun day and I think the photographs do a really good job of telling the story. I'm already wondering what scary movie we should pay homage to next year. Forgotten Mill

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><img border="0" src="http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/theclotheshorse/1v/1v009/_MG_9274_zpsc1e47188.jpg" /><br />I tend to describe my style as feminine, perhaps a little ladylike; quirky is another favorite descriptor, but I also have my practical side. Which means while I'd like to spend most days in a tutu with little jeweled heels (<a href="http://theclothes.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/sugar-pavilions.html" target="_blank">ahem</a>) I'd also like to not twist my ankle or ruin a nice skirt while doing other things I enjoy like exploring abandoned buildings or merely enjoying a walk off the beaten path. So my tutus are reserved for less strenuous days and I have a ready arsenal of more utilitarian pieces to help me on my adventures. For poking around in an abandoned mill nothing beats a cozy coat and sturdy boots. I recently received <a href="http://www.catfootwear.com/US/en-US/Product.mvc.aspx/34168W/84670/Womens/Womens-Midi-Boot?dimensions=0" target="_blank">these adventure-ready boots from Cat Footwear</a> and I'm almost sad it's spring so I won't have much opportunity to wear them when the weather warms up--they would have been very handy this past winter! Back In Ireland

It's always a laugh when his friends or family ask where Thomas has been taking me to around his country, places like the Titanic museum or Giant's Causeway seem to hover in the air while I blithely reply that he took me to an abandoned mill or jam factory. Of course I am kidding because I will be treated to plenty of castles, museums, and natural wonders during my brief stay and I quite like abandoned buildings. Thankfully there are many more brave souls in the world outside who do venture inside and capture their experiences beautifully on camera. <a href="https://www.behance.net/gallery/staircases/14534103" target="_blank">Christian Richter</a> a photographer based out of Germany seems to focus his abandoned adventures on staircases. Spiraled, colorful, and all decaying it's a stunning collection of images and places.</div></div>
