From my favorite feather printed dress by her that makes me feel like a swan maiden to <a href="http://samanthapleet.com/collections/fw-14?page=1" target="_blank">this new beautifully embroidered piece</a>. Perhaps part of the reason is her inspiration--for Fall 2014 she tapped into the visions of Joan of Arc. Her story is represented in <a href="http://samanthapleet.com/collections/fw-14/products/passion-dress-illuminated-print" target="_blank">prints</a> that resemble the delicate illustrations in old manuscripts, <a href="http://samanthapleet.com/collections/fw-14/products/soaring-dress-in-comet-print" target="_blank">dresses blazing with comets</a>, and <a href="http://samanthapleet.com/collections/fw-14/products/chosen-cape-in-gold" target="_blank">dramatic capes</a> that would make the wearer feel like a super-heroine. The Maid of Orléans is perhaps most literally told in the embroidery on my own dress; pierced arrows, present moons, and ominous fires form a unique pattern. Joan of Arc is such an intriguing historical figure and these clothes touch on some of that potency. I'm quite enamored with my dress and can't wait to wear it again and again this season. It will look beautiful with a dark cape on top, or a blouse layered underneath. Every Leaf A Flower

Coca-Cola Overload

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><img border="0" src="http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/theclotheshorse/1u/1u013/cocacola-27_zpsfa22b66d.jpg" /><br />I've mentioned before that I have a soda addiction and when you see my grandmother's basement (which I've <a href="http://theclothes.blogspot.com/2013/01/things-go-better.html" target="_blank">photographed before</a>) it's easy to see where it comes from. I didn't enjoy her collection as much when I was little, not because I was any less fascinated by it, but rather because I was always afraid of breaking something. All of the trays are standing on the shelves just so and the cute little Coca-Cola toy cars were not supposed to be played with, not to mention the glass-topped cases and collection of glass bottles. It's definitely a more fun room to visit now that I don't require adult supervision and I'm less afraid of being clumsy. It's such a beautiful room to me not just because it's Coca-Cola themed but rather the vintage artwork--I love seeing the different styles in art and the ideal commercial model through the decades. I wonder if I'll ever have a collection to rival it...but I suppose that would mean living in one house for more than three years at a time.<br />P.S. This was my in-between hair color that I had for about half a day before I went full-on red. She's a Rebel

I wasn't even a rebellious teenager. I got into a fights with my mother quite a bit but my acting out was minimal and I've always been afraid of authority figures. Even with some of the traditional trappings of rebels like my tattoos and pink hair I don't think I'm very convincing playing the part. But sartorially you're allowed to temporarily adopt these characters. Guitar Lessons

Lately, I've been craving to be a bit musical again and have another hobby that takes me away from computer and television screens for awhile. Playing the guitar seems ideal--laidback and more mobile than a piano! I actually got my little guitar as a present for Christmas but I have yet to effectively take regular lessons or practice, so it mostly sits in its case in my room collecting dust. Still I might be slow at pursuing my goal to learn the guitar but I'm determined to make it happen...eventually. Impractical Dressing

Since she has a new little baby my mother warned me not to pack any clothes I cared too much about because the baby would probably throw up on me...I mostly took her advice packing older pieces and jeans so I could play around with my niece who is a little older, but I also took <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=761928&b=298982&m=32249&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Eoasap%2Ecom%2Fdresses%2F37661%2Dstar%2Dchiffon%2Dpu%2Dcollar%2Ddress%2Ehtml" target="_blank">this new dress</a> and <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=761928&b=417942&m=43745&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Emodcloth%2Ecom%2Fshop%2Fshoes%2Dheels%2Fdynamic%2Ddebut%2Dheel%2Din%2Dburgundy" target="_blank">these heels</a>. They made chasing my niece around the house a little harder, but nobody made a mess on my new clothes and I didn't twist an ankle so I'd say it worked out fine.
