Pendleton is a complicated fabric/pattern to appreciate because it borders on appropriation (a good explanation of the history and present complications here) and the price of it tends to be exorbitant. There's something strange about fashion's trend right now to turn what was once essentially a blanket into a $700 coat or to make high-end sweatpants at equally ridiculous prices just boggles my mind. But that's aside from the point: Pendleton's latest Portland Collection. Visually, I like it. Even if I don't end up purchasing from the line I can take styling cues in the long pleated skirts, belted cardigans, and color palettes.
