Unlike so many editorials that channel retro vibes while being obviously modern, a few photographs from this set for Rika magazine might actually fool someone at first glance. Perhaps it is the bold hand on hip pose that echoes the common positioning of early pioneer portraits or perhaps the fashionable slump that instead of resembling the industry's current obsession with broken-down dolls is reminiscent of the defeated posture of people suffering from the Great Depression photographed by such figures as Georgia O'Keefe, or perhaps credit goes to casting and model Ros Georgiou merely has that timeless look. Whatever the case, this is one editorial that stands apart from the rest and not merely because of excessive use or filters or editing--there's a mood beyond the sepia and light leaks that can't be ignored. via
