In case you didn't already have Christmas on your mind, perhaps these winter scenes around New York in the 1940s and 50s by Saul Leiter might bring you to the mood of the season. Most of Leiter's contemporaries specialized in black and white photography as opposed to Leiter's painterly approach to color photography. While one of the pioneers of street photography he has been mostly unknown until more recent years and a new documentary (In No Great Hurry: 13 Lessons in Life With Saul Leiter) attends to address that very subject. His work spans many seasons, but I couldn't resist sharing this collection of snowy scenes at the onset of December. His interesting way of framing images adds a wonderful sense of drama to everyday moments.
